Self Portrait

Hey Richard, love the latest addition to the caricature portfolio. Its very brave of you and a ruthless rendering. I think it looks great and you did well to put such emphasis in the eyes. The only thing that stood out for me where you could possibly improve it, would be to rework the neckline of the shirt, at a glance it appears as though the neck is closer to us than the clothing. But other than that, spot on and I take my hat off to you for tackling what I have dared not yet!

Thanks Jon,
This is the first time I've attempted a self portrait. I just enrolled in the National Caricature Network (A U.S. organisation -the one Jason Seiler won the golden nosey with) which gives you the option of posting a self caricature on your entry so I thought I'd have a go. You're absolutely right about the neckline -I'll fix it before submitting it. Doing a self portrait is a slightly odd experience incidentally!

oh yeah the NCN, I just joined it a few weeks ago myself but haven't got round to doing a self portrait, been so busy recently. However I did just discover a pretty cool site - DrawMyFace. have you heard of it? basically you submit a picture of yourself on a forum like page and then tackle doing caricatures of any of the other submissions people have left. while anyone else who takes up the challenge does you, it seems to generate a good response, So I might just stick my mug up on there and see what other people can do with it!

Can't seem to find it, keep coming up with Dan Johnson websites. Is it part of that? I'd give it a go if I can get to it -will keep looking.
